Narayanganj mourns Bangabandhu on his martyrdom anniversary
NCC Mayor Ivy also planted 100 saplings in the Gymkhana Ground on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu
Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) and the district administration separately paid tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking his 45th martyrdom anniversary and the National Mourning Day.
Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy placed floral wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation at the gate number 2 area of the city on Saturday morning. Later, she planted 100 saplings in the Gymkhana Ground on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu.
City Corporation officials and Narayanganj district Awami League leaders were present there.
On the other hand, Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jasim Uddin and Superintendent of Police Zaidul Alam separately paid homage to Bangabandhu's portrait at the Victory Monument at Chashara in the city.
After paying tribute, the deputy commissioner planted saplings at Narayanganj 300-bed hospital to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary and martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organisations in different upazilas of the district placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu and arranged Milad Mahfil, Doa, discussion meeting and distributed food among the poor.
