‘Professional goal necessary for career growth’
The candidates have to develop and maintain a professional network
One should first set a professional goal for career growth, and the strategic choices will help to secure success in the career, opined Vera Fishman, a career management expert.
She was addressing a virtual webinar titled "How to Have a Successful Career," on Wednesday night in the capital.
The event was organised by the EMK Center in partnership with the government's a2i (Access to Information), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and The Business Standard as part of a month-long "Youth Employability Campaign."
During her speech, Vera Fishman said that the candidates have to develop and maintain a professional network to open opportunities for progress in their career.
"The people who want an impressive career should be a brand on their respective ground. The brand will cover the job functions, competence and reputation."
She continued, "The candidate must develop a personal brand having a clear message, being a thoughtful leader and continue learning. Further, they have to promote the professional brand through connecting diversified people."
Regarding the professional network, she advised adding everyone in social media platforms and discussing work with them.
"The candidates have to engage in physical conversation whenever they have a chance. And certainly, they have to maintain the relationship. To expand the network, one has to join professional groups and have to attend various events," she said.
Vera also suggested meeting at least two new people each month.
More than a hundred freshers joined the session.
