Sinha murder case: 3 ‘witnesses’ on fresh remand

A Cox's Bazar court today placed the three witnesses, made by police, in the Major (Retd) Sinha Rashed Khan murder case on four-day remand in second phase.
Following the hearing, Tamanna Farah, judge of Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-3, Teknaf, granted the remand.
"A RAB team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Khairul Islam, the investigating officer in the case took them in their custody from the district jail at around 11:30 am on Saturday," District Jail Superintendent Mokammel Hossain confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
The witnesses - Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Mohammad Ayas of Marishbunia, Baharchhara were taken to the RAB-15 office after health examination at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
After a seven-day remand, on August 25, RAB Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Khairul Islam produced them before the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court and again appealed for seven-day fresh remand.
Earlier, the court placed them on a seven-day remand on August 12. They were taken into RAB custody on August 14 and sent to jail on August 20 after questioning.
On August 9, a RAB team detained them from the Marishbunia area of Teknaf on charges of involvement in the incident.
On July 3, Sinha went to Cox's Bazar with Shipra Debnath, Shahedul Islam Sifat and Taskin to film a travel video. Major (retd) Sinha was shot dead by police at Shamlapur check post on the night of July 31 while he was on his way back to Nilima Resort in the Himchhari area of Cox's Bazar on Marine Drive after filming a video on Marishbunia hill in Teknaf.
