Dr Zafrullah writes to DGHS DG seeking approval to conduct Covid-19 tests at Gonosasthaya hospital
Dr Zafrullah wrote to the DGHS DG after Dr Farid Hossain Miah, director (hospital) at DGHS, called the director of Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital asking them to shut down all Covid-19 testing facilities at the hospital.
Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has written a formal letter to the Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday to keep the RT-PCR tests, blood transfusion and plasma center running at the molecular diagnostic center at Gonoshasthaya Nagar hospital for the diagnosis of Covid-19 and other diseases.
Dr Zafrullah wrote to the DGHS DG after Dr Farid Hossain Miah, director (hospital) at DGHS, called the director of Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital asking them to shut down all Covid-19 testing facilities at the hospital.
In the phone call, Dr Farid Hossain Miah said, ""You have no approval to run RTPCR tests, blood transfusions and plasma center in the hospital and must close the facility immediately."
"If the work continues, action will be taken through mobile court."
"In addition, in order to run Covid-19 RTPCR tests, blood transfusions and plasma center in the hospital, a separate letter must be sent to the concerned authorities seeking permission to run these facilities," Dr Farid added.
After the following chain of events, Dr Zafrullah wrote, "On August 12, I sent an e-mail to the Director (Hospital) at DGHS seeking permission to conduct GR Covid-19 RTPCR tests and run plasma center activities. Without receiving any response from you, I send the letter again today (August 31)."
"The license application for Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital (Registration Code HSM67316), Gonoshasthaya Laboratory and Diagnostic Center (Registration Code HSM32496), Gonoshasthaya blood Bank and transfusion center (Registration Code HSM05039), is under your consideration at this moment."
"The statement of the Director (hospital) of DGHS regarding the issue is against public interest and is irrational. His statement is against the spirit of the Liberation War."
In the letter, Dr Zafrullah hoped to get proper support and prompt approval from DGHS regarding the matter and kindly request them to pay a visit to observe the activities at the Gonoshasthaya facilities at their convenience.
