Human hauler stand relocated from in front of Nagar Bhaban
It has been shifted to a bay on the east side of Nagar Bhaban
The human hauler stand on the street in front of Nagar Bhaban has been relocated.
It has been shifted to a bay on the east side of the Nagar Bhaban. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Executive Magistrate Irfan Uddin Ahmed supervised the stand's move on Tuesday.
The initiative will reduce daily traffic congestion at the Gulistan end of Nagar Bhaban. Further, the management of human haulers will also be disciplined.
Using the new stand (bay), some 54 human haulers of seven different routes will be able pick and drop passengers.
"The illegal human hauler stand has been shifted from the road in front of Nagar Bhaban following the mayor's instructions. The relocation aims to discipline them, increase the revenue of the DSCC through toll collection and alleviate traffic congestion," said Irfan Uddin Ahmed.
From now on, no one will be able to use the former human hauler stand to pick up or drop off passengers, he added.
"We will have round-the-clock supervision so that the former human hauler stand is not used anymore, plus run frequent mobile courts as required and collect fines as required," added Irfan Uddin Ahmed.
"We will continue these activities to reduce traffic congestion and ensure the free movement of people," he said.
Meanwhile, all the hawkers on the sidewalk in front of Nagar Bhaban were evicted during the move.
