Urea production resumes in CUFL
About 1,000 workers are working in the factory
Urea production resumed at Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Ltd (CUFL) from 10:10 am on Tuesday.
Abdur Rahim, managing director of CUFL, told The Business Standard, "Urea production at CUFL had been shut down for about a year and a half due to mechanical faults. On Tuesday morning, production resumed and 82 tonnes of urea was produced. We expect to produce an average of 1,200 tonnes of urea per day. About 1,000 workers are working in the factory."
AQM Selim Reza Chowdhury, former CBA leader of CUFL, said, "We are very happy to be able to resume production after a long pause. All the workers are working in a happy mood and keeping the production going."
According to CUFL sources, the factory had stopped production for a year and a half due to mechanical faults. It reopened on April 3 but closed on April 4. Then the production started again on June 15 but closed again on July 7.
