Shayan Rahman gets Junior Chamber International award
He was awarded for playing an active role in the continuing progress of the Beximco group
Ahmed Shayan Fazlur Rahman, a director of the Beximco Group, has received the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bangladesh award.
JCI Bangladesh awarded the 2019 edition of the"JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Bangladesh" at a ceremony in the capital on Wednesday, a press release of the Beximco group said.
Shayan was awarded for playing an active role in the continuing progress of the Beximco group.
On receiving the award, Shayan thanked the organizers saying: "We, the young people, feel motivated with such recognitions. The country witnessed phenomenal growth in the last 10 years in almost all sectors, including power and infrastructure.
"If the pace of the development continues, Bangladesh will move forward further."
Other recipients of the award include Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury, the incumbent deputy education minister, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, cricketer and lawmaker, Abdullah Al Morshed, cartoonist and founder of the Global Happiness Challenge.
Dr Ashraful Hoque Siam, assistant professor of the Cardiac Surgery department of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Mohiuddin Ahmed, director of the Badsha Group of Industries, Nusrat Faria, an actress, Salman Karim, managing director of the Confidence Infrastructure Ltd also received the award.
Two other recipients are Tahmina Mostafa, a director of the Meghna Group of Industries and Tanvir A Mishuk, managing director of the digital financial service Nagad.
Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, speaker of the National Parliament, was the chief guest in the event and she handed over the award to the ten recipients.
Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury, the chief whip of the parliament, Sheikh Fazle Fahim, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry were present in the ceremony among others.
