Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of valiant freedom fighter and Sector Commander of the 1971 Liberation War retired Lieutenant Colonel Abu Osman Chowdhury.
The prime minister in a condolence message recalled the outstanding contributions of Abu Osman Chowdhury to the country's great Liberation War.
"The country and nation have lost a valiant freedom fighter at the death of Abu Osman Chowdhury, and his heroic contributions to the great Liberation War will be remembered forever," she said.
The unimpeachable role of this soldier will forever give us courage for implementation of the ideals and spirit of the Liberation War in independent Bangladesh and for the welfare of the country and the nation.

Abu Osman Chowdhury, the commander of sector-8 during the Liberation War, breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka this morning.
