The authorities today closed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) till October 3 amid student protests demanding resignation of the vice-chancellor on the charges of irregularities and corruption.
The university authorities closed the institution till October 3 and urged the students to vacate the residential halls by 10 am today to tackle the untoward situation, BSMRSTU Registrar Professor Dr Md Nuruddin Ahmed said.
However, sources said the students are yet to leave the dormitories and they were staging demonstrations taking shelter around the campus. The agitating students were later allegedly attacked by outsiders leaving at least 20 injured, the sources added.
