Covid-19 may turn lethal anytime: Obaidul
According to scientists, the virus strain has been changing rapidly at a rate of 13% in Bangladesh, when worldwide the rate is 7.5%
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has expressed concern over the coronavirus situation in Bangladesh saying the virus can turn deadly at any time in the country.
He made this remark during a press briefing at his residence in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area of the capital on Monday.
Urging everyone to be extremely heedful in following the hygiene rules, including wearing protective masks, the minister said, "As of yet, it can't be said that the Covid-19 infection rate has reduced in the country."
"According to scientists, the virus strain has been changing rapidly at a rate of 13% in Bangladesh, when worldwide the rate is 7.5%," he added.
Mentioning the second wave of coronavirus infection in different parts of the world, the minister further warned the countrymen against complacency and negligence in light of the currently moderate Covid status of the country.
