Sources at Gulshan police station revealed that Hiru is also accused of financing activities against the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement
A court in Dhaka on Thursday (16 January) remanded Asaduzzaman Hiru, a claimed foster son of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, to jail in connection with the murder of Toufikul Islam Bhuiyan during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah issued the order after police produced Hiru before the court and requested that he be held in custody.
Hiru was arrested in the Gulshan area of the city on 15 January.
Toufikul Islam Bhuiyan, 43, was shot dead in front of the Badda Buddhist Temple on 19 July.
