College admission begins
Admission will continue till September 17
The admission process for Class XI (academic session 2020 – 2021) began on Sunday and will continue till September 17.
The Inter-Education Coordinating Board received about 1.4 million applications in three stages from students who passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations earlier this year.
Ziaul Haque, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, told The Business Standard the admission process would be carried out transparently.
A total of 1,690,523 students passed the SSC examinations this year.
According to the Inter-Education Coordinating Board, the Monthly Pay Order (MPO)-listed educational institutions in upazila areas cannot take more than Tk1,000, including session and admission fees, from students.
It will be Tk2,000 in district headquarters areas, and Tk3,000 in metropolitan areas other than Dhaka.
Not more than Tk5,000 can be collected for admission to MPO-listed educational institutions in Dhaka metropolitan area.
A maximum of Tk8,000 for the English version and Tk7,000 for the Bangla version can be charged for development of partial MPO or non-MPO educational institutions in Dhaka metropolitan area, and for payment of salaries and allowances to non-MPO teachers.
During the first phase, the application period began on August 9 and ended on August 20. The second phase was from August 31 to September 2.
The third phase began on September 7 and ended on September 9.
