Police officer transferred on charge of extortion
After investigation, the allegations against the SI have been proven true
Sub-inspector (SI) Yusuf Ali of Aminpur Police Station in Pabna has been transferred to Jaipurhat on charge of extortion after he forcibly sealed off a shop at a village in Bera upazila.
"After investigation, the allegations against the SI have been proven true," said Superintendent of Police in Pabna Sheikh Rafiqur Islam.
A three-member probe committee led by Farhad Hossain, additional superintendent of police of Sujangar Circle police station was formed to investigate into the matter.
On September 2, SI Yusuf sealed off a shop after its owner failed to give him bribe.
Officer-in-Charge at the Aminpur Police Station Mominul Islam said a police officer can never seal off a shop.
A number of shopkeepers in Aminpur bazar complained of harassments by the SI after they denied or failed to pay him bribe.
He is commonly known as Tiger Yusuf in the area and has a reputation of getting his way through tyranny on the villagers.
