Last statements of witnesses in arms case against Shahed recorded
The court has set July 16-17 as dates for recording the statement of the accused
A Dhaka court has finished recording the statements of witnesses in an arms case against Regent Hospital Chairman Shahed Karim.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury and investigation officer of the case Inspector Md Shairul Islam from the Detective Branch of police submitted their testimonies to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes on Tuesday.
The court has set September 16-17 as the dates for recording the statement of the accused.
Eleven out of 14 witnesses in the case have submitted their statements to the court over four working days.
Shahed was brought to the court from the prison on Tuesday.
DB Police inspector Md Shairul Islam submitted the charge sheet of the case at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on July 30.
Shahed was arrested at an area near the border at Debhata Satkhira on July 15.
The next day, the court granted a 10-day remand for Shahed in a case that was filed against him for providing false Covid-19 positive certificates.
The Detective Branch of Police recovered arms and drugs in Uttara on July 18 in a drive conducted with Shahed while he was on remand.
Later an arms case was filed against him.
