Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a condolence message on Friday said Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi played a pivotal role in modernising the Qawmi madrasa education system.

"He has made a significant contribution in preaching and spreading Islamic teaching and played a crucial role in modernising the Qawmi madrasa education system" she said.

The chief of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh breathed his last on Friday at 6:30 pm in Asgar Ali Hospital in the capital.
