Rwanda keen to enhance bilateral and trade relations with Bangladesh
Rwanda's Foreign Minister Vincent Biruta has expressed interest in boosting bilateral and trade ties with Bangladesh.
The Rwandan foreign minister expressed the interest in a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen yesterday.
The Foreign Ministers of both countries expressed interest in increasing trade between the two countries. Rwandan Foreign Minister said that they will soon decide on Bangladesh's proposal to avoid double taxing.
The Foreign Minister of Bangladesh called upon Rwanda to import Bangladeshi medicines, corona medical supplies, readymade garments and bicycles. They emphasised the importance of exchanging visits between business representatives of the two countries. Besides, Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) was discussed between the two countries.
Dr Momen highlighted the recent development and potential of Bangladesh. He said the government of Bangladesh is very business-friendly and called upon Rwanda to invest in the economic zone of Bangladesh. He mentioned that both countries will benefit from this.
Vincent Biruta pledged Rwanda's continued support for the repatriation of 1.1 million displaced Rohingya from Myanmar.
Recently, the Bangladesh High Commissioner appointed in Kenya has been given the parallel responsibility as the Non-Resident High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Rwanda.
