Man held with 6 gold bars at Dhaka airport
The suspect arrived at the airport in a flight from Dubai
The customs intelligence on Tuesday seized six gold bars weighing 698 grams from a passenger at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The suspect, identified as Abdul Majid, arrived at the airport in a flight from Dubai.
Acting on a tip off, a team of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate started monitoring the passengers. The team approached Majid and asked about the gold bars, but he denied carrying anything illegal. Majid was then underwent a metal detector test and metal was detected inside his body. At one stage of interrogation, Majid admitted that he hid gold bars in his rectum.
Later, customs intelligence managed to confiscate six gold bars.
Six mobile phones, 15 kilograms powdered milk, and 10 kilograms of cosmetics were also seized from Majid. The total worth of confiscated goods is around Tk40 lakh.
The process to file a case in this regard is underway.
