Manikganj District Hospital starts collecting samples for Covid-19 tests after 10 days
After joining a technician from Harirampur Upazila Health Complex, sample collection for Covid-19 testing at the hospital has returned to normal on Monday, hospital super said
Manikganj District Hospital has started collecting samples for Covid-19 tests after a 10-day halt as two technicians of the hospital tested positive for the virus.
Dr Arshad Ullah, superintendent of the hospital, confirmed this matter on Saturday evening.
He said "The sample collection has been closed for 10 days (from September 25 to October 4) as two technicians Abdus Sattar and Kaji Md Younus of the hospital tested positive for [the novel] coronavirus in September."
After a technician joined from Harirampur Upazila Health Complex on Monday, sample collection for [novel] coronavirus testing at the hospital has returned to normal, he added.
Technician Abdullah Al Mamun said that on Monday, he collected a few samples for Covid-19 testing. However, sample collection at the hospital is now ongoing in full swing from Tuesday morning.
After being on leave with his Covid-19 infection, the hospital's technician Abdus Sattar received his negative report on 4 October and returned to the office today.
Dr Anwarul Amin Akhand, civil surgeon of Manikganj, said a total of 1,503 people have been diagnosed positive for Covid-19. Of this figure, 1,437 have recovered till date.
However, 21 people have died of the virus in the district thus far, while fifteen more have died showing symptoms of the virus, while 125 are under treatment.
Shamim Ahmed, a ward boy of the hospital who provides sample collection tokens for Covid-19 tests, said 65 male and female patients were given tickets on Tuesday.
