DU student brutally hacked in Cox's Bazar
Locals rescued him to the Sadar Hospital
A group of miscreants hacked a student of University of Dhaka in Kharulia area of Cox's Bazar Sadar on Sunday afternoon.
The 21-year-old Russell Rahman, a second year student of Japanese Studies Department of the university, has been admitted to Sadar Hospital in critical condition.
Jahanara Begum, mother of the victim, said "There had been a long-standing dispute with our neighbour. They along with other miscreants vandalised and looted our house after a trivial altercation over drainage of water on Sunday. When we tried to stop them, my son was stabbed with a machete."
Later, locals rescued him to the Sadar Hospital.
Sheikh Munir Ul Gias, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, said, "We are aware of the incident. Action will be taken after investigation."
Confirming the matter, Jhilangja Union Parishad chairman Tipu Sultan said, "The family of the injured student is extremely poor. His father is a disabled person and the boy is studying at the university with the villagers' help. Such a brutal incident cannot be accepted."
