ACC collecting wealth info of Haji Salim, son Erfan
The move came just two days after Erfan Salim and his bodyguard were jailed for one year by a mobile court of RAB
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started collecting wealth information of Dhaka-7 MP Haji Mohammad Salim and his son Erfan Salim, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Navy officer.
ACC Commissioner Dr Mozammel Haque Khan came up with the remark during a media briefing today.
The move came just two days after Erfan Salim and his bodyguard were jailed for one year by a mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for possessing illegal walkie-talkies and liquor.
The mobile court was set up at Haji Salim's Old Dhaka residence a day after Erfan Salim and few others assaulted a Navy officer on Sunday last.
A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed Erfan Salim and his bodyguard Zahid on a 3-day remand in the case filed over an attempt to murder a Navy officer. Four separate cases were filed against Erfan and bodyguard Zahid under the Arms Act and Narcotics Control Act.
On 25 October, a Navy officer was allegedly assaulted by Erfan Salim, after his motorcycle collided with a car owned by the lawmaker.
According to witnesses, the car first hit the motorcycle of Navy officer lieutenant Wasif Ahmed. He was returning home with his wife after purchasing books. At that time, a few men got down from the car, assaulted the Navy officer and knocked out his one tooth.
Later, the assaulters escaped the scene leaving the car behind as people started to gather around.
