DCCI seeks Vietnam investment
Vietnam can invest directly or in the form of joint ventures in textiles, tourism, blue economy, construction, light engineering and leather sectors
Dhaka-based business body Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) urged Vietnamese entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh.
DCCI President Shams Mahmud made the request as Vietnam Ambassador to Bangladesh Pham Viet Chien called on him at the DCCI office on Tuesday, said a press release.
Vietnam can invest directly or in the form of joint ventures in some of the potential sectors, including textiles, tourism, blue economy, construction, light engineering and leather, the DCCI president said.

During the meeting, Shams Mahmud also requested Pham Viet Chien to sign a memorandum of understanding between his chamber and the Vietnam embassy to facilitate trade and investment.
Later, he offered the ambassador to establish a Vietnam Desk in the DCCI office as a part of trade facilitation.
He also emphasised establishing direct flights between Dhaka and Hanoi as well as easing business visas for Bangladeshi nationals.
If Bangladesh could manage to gain the Observer status in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), its trade and commerce with that region will grow manifolds, the DCCI president said.
