Give bankers the chance to vote in by-polls: BB
Voting through EVMs will begin at 8am and continue uninterrupted till 4pm on 12 November in the by-elections for Dhaka-18 and Sirajganj-1 parliamentary seats
The Bangladesh Bank has advised banks located in and near the Dhaka-18 and Sirajganj-1 constituencies to take necessary measures for granting their staff and employees the opportunity to vote in the by-polls scheduled for Thursday.
The central bank's Department of Offsite Supervision issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.
Voting through EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) will begin at 8am and continue uninterrupted till 4pm on 12 November in the by-elections for Dhaka-18 and Sirajganj-1 parliamentary seats.
Six candidates, including those from the Awami League, the BNP and the Jatiya Party, are vying for the seat in Dhaka-18 constituency. The constituency fell vacant following the death of former home minister and Awami League MP Sahara Khatun on 9 July.
In Sirajganj-1 constituency, former lawmaker Tanvir Shakil Joy – who is the son of former health minister Mohammed Nasim – is vying from the Awami League, and Selim Reza is contending from the BNP.
The constituency fell vacant after the death of former health minister and Awami League MP Mohammed Nasim on 13 June.
