Number of taxpayers will cross 1cr soon
In Bangladesh, around 4 crore people belong to the middle income group now

Multiple and simultaneous efforts by government agencies will help the number of income tax-payers cross 1 crore mark within a few years, said Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
“In Bangladesh, around 4 crore people belong to the middle income group now. But only 21 to 22 lakh people among them are paying income tax,” Kamal said while presenting budget speech for fiscal year 2019-2020 in parliament.
“We will take this number to 1 crore at the earliest possible time,” he said.

He also said efforts to bring the rest of the citizens under the tax net will continue as part of the ongoing process.
The finance minister expressed his wish to ease down the processes of tax collection all over the country.
