Pitch invader clicks selfie with Jamal Bhuyan
A 15-year old selfie-seeker named Hasib broke through the security barrier at the 73rd minute of the second friendly match between Bangladesh and Nepal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
Pitch invasion in sports is not a new phenomenon. The world has many times seen an individual or crowd running onto the playing arena, just to catch the attention of favourite players. It has happened few times in Bangladesh in cricket matches. But someone running onto the field during a football match is an extremely rare scene in Bangladesh.
A 15-year old selfie-seeker named Hasib broke through the security barrier at the 73rd minute of the second friendly match between Bangladesh and Nepal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Hasib's target was to click a selfie with Jamal Bhuyan. He succeeded eventually. The police on duty then moved him away from the field. He has been taken to Motijheel police station.
A linesman was close-by when he reached Jamal to click the selfie. The linesman tried to keep him away from the Bangladesh skipper. Then the police took him away and the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) gave him over to the police.
Jamal Bhuyan, after the match, asked about the fan and requested to let him go. Jamal was assured that the fan will be let go after interrogating him at Motijheel police station.
Bangladesh, despite drawing the match, have sealed the Mujib Borsho Fifa International Friendly series 1-0.
