Couple held in Gazipur over ‘killing’ school girl
The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy
Police arrested a couple for allegedly slaughtering a school girl to death in Sutrapur area of Gazipur on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Limu Akhter Lamia, daughter of Saheb Ali of the area and class IV student of a local primary school while the arrestees are Suman and his wife Mili Begum, tenant of Saheb's house.
Quoting the victim's family members, Monowar Hossain Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir Police Station said that Lamia went missing in the evening. Later, Lamia's family complained about her missing in the police station and searched her in the possible areas adjoining their house.
At one stage, when the family members were searching her in a canal near to the house, the accused Sumon who also with them, suggested them different directions in the canal for searching Lamia, standing on her body which was hidden under canal water.
Over suspicion, the family members went to Sumon and recovered the body under his feet.
Later, they caught Sumon and informed police.
On information, police recovered the body from the spot and arrested Sumon along with his wife.
The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The family members said that the couple, hailing from Bogura Sadar upazila, came to the house as tenants three months ago.
There was a loggerhead with the couple centering due of house rent money TK 5,000.
