BEPZA seeks cooperation to attract more Japanese investment in the EPZs
BEPZA also requested to Japanese Government to facilitate a higher-level skill development training in Japan for the young employees of BEPZA
Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has sought assistance from Japan Embassy and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to attract more Japanese investment in the export procession zones (EPZ) of the country as well as BEPZA Economic Zone.
BEPZA Member (Investment Promotion) Md Mahmudul Hossain Khan adressed it during the visit of a 7-member delegation of JETRO and the Japanese Embassy led by the Minister and Deputy Chief of Japan Embassy, Bangladesh Yamaya Hiroyuki at BEPZA Complex in Dhaka on Tuesday, said a press release issued by BEPZA.
BEPZA, Japan Embassy and JETRO are working regularly to make the EPZs as well as Bangladesh a more attractive destination for Japanese investors by resolving different problems in operating business.
Keeping in line with this strategy, the Japanese delegation held this meeting with BEPZA to discuss and review the progress of implementation of previous commitments made and decisions that were taken in their previous meetings, the release said.
During the meeting, BEPZA and the delegates discussed on various issues related to mutual interest.
The delegates thanked BEPZA for implementing the decisions taken on the previous meetings such as round use of container, removal of service charge for using generator, etc.
The delegates hoped that BEPZA would work positively towards the rapid implementation of the decisions taken that are yet to be implemented and help further enhance trade in the EPZs.
During the meeting, BEPZA also requested to Japanese Government to facilitate a higher-level skill development training in Japan for the young employees of BEPZA, the release added.
Country Representative of JETRO Yuji Ando, First Secretary of Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh Yamamoto Akira, Advisor of the Embassy Ozaki So, Secretary of BEPZA Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, General Manager (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir, General Manager (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain, General Manager (Enterprise Services) Md Khorshid Alam were also present during this time.
