Deaths around border decline: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the number of deaths around Bangladesh's border has declined significantly.
The minister made the comment while talking with reporters at Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Saturday noon.

"We should be careful for our own security to prevent border killings rather blaming India," he said.
According to Odhikar, a human rights organisation of Bangladesh, at least 1,144 people have been killed by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India from 2000-2018.
According to Ain o Salish Kendra data, 15 people were killed in 2018 along the border with India, but the death toll rose to 20 within the first six months of 2019.
The minister also told the reporters that there are confusions regarding the decision to supply water and gas to India.
Bangladesh will be benefited by exporting the imported gas to India, he added.
