Beximco Pharma Director Zahidur Rahman dies of Covid-19
Zahidur was instrumental in developing the world’s first generic Remdesivir medicine in Bangladesh for the treatment of Covid-19 patients
Beximco Pharma Production Director ARM Zahidur Rahman, 59, died of the novel coronavirus while undergoing treatment at a Dhaka hospital on Wednesday.
Zahidur Rahman obtained his MPharm degree from the University of Dhaka in 1983.
He spent most of his 30-year-long professional career in Beximco Pharma, said a media release.
Expressing deep condolence over his demise, Nazmul Hassan, managing director of Beximco Pharma, said, "We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Zahidur Rahman."
Zahidur was instrumental in developing the world's first generic Remdesivir medicine in Bangladesh for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, he said.
"This is an irreparable loss to the organisation and the country has lost an industry veteran whose exemplary contribution will always be remembered," Nazmul Hasan added.
Zahidur Rahman left behind his wife, a son and a daughter.
