Bangladesh Consulate General in New York observes 'Martyred Intellectuals Day'
Bangladesh Consulate General in New York observed 'Martyred Intellectuals Day' remembering those intellectuals who were killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their local collaborators during the 1971 Liberation War.
At the beginning of the program, one minute of silence was observed for the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyred members of his family, intellectuals martyred in the great war of independence and other martyred freedom fighters.
Consul General Sadia Faizunnesa read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister sent from Bangladesh.
At the end of the ceremony, a special prayer was held for the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, other martyred members of his family, martyred intellectuals and martyred freedom fighters, Bangladeshis and Bangladeshi-American brothers and sisters who died from coronavirus, and for the continued prosperity of the country.
