Online admission process for govt schools begins

The government secondary schools in Dhaka and the rest of the country have started accepting applications for admission from today.

Applications can be submitted till 5pm on 26 December. Students will be selected for admission through lottery on 30 December.
Meanwhile, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education has issued rules for filling up admission forms and paying fees through online and SMS for all government secondary schools located at the divisional city, district and upazila levels.
The admission notice states that the application fee this time will be Tk 110, which can be paid by SMS through Teletalk.
According to the admission order, 44 government secondary schools in Dhaka metropolis will be divided into three groups.
In addition, applicants across the country will receive a list of thana-based educational institutions at the time of selection.
Candidates will then be able to select a maximum of five schools in order of preference on the basis of availability.
Earlier, the announcement was made that due to the novel coronavirus, students of all classes in the coming academic year will be admitted through online lottery.
There are 39 government secondary institutions in Dhaka with 11,500 seats. The catchment area will be 50% instead of 40%. In the case of cluster-based admission, the student will be able to select five schools in the lottery.
