Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited (BPBL) and Chugoku Marine Paints Limited (CMP) of Japan have teamed up to offer high performance marine coatings and related industrial paints for their customers in Bangladesh.
Berger will be the licensed manufacturer of the advanced marine paints which were originally formulated and developed by the Japanese company and certified by world-renowned standards authorities, read a press release.
The product ranges offered under the two companies' collaboration include: epoxy primers, epoxy tie coats, synthetic resin-based single component tie coats, hydrolysis type and self-polishing type antifouling, epoxy topcoat, alkyd topcoat, polyurethane topcoat, alkyd primer, heat resistant paint, and other improved materials, it added.
Sea-going vessels, export vessels, class vessels, and other riverine vessels require a superior standard of coatings for long-lasting protection, the press release noted.
Berger has now enabled local manufacturers to avail the global standard for longevity of their vessels by partnering with CMP. This initiative will also benefit the local shipbuilding industry by decreasing lead time, increasing operational efficiency and lowering import expenses and hassles, it continued.
Regarding the launch of marine paints from CMP, AKM Sadeque Nawaj, general manager (Marketing) at Berger said, "There is a huge market of marine paints of around Tk200 crore in Bangladesh. Berger envisions a self-sufficient market, where the lesser dependency on imports would ensure better and more profitable business outcomes for our clients. We are optimistic that the partnership with CMP will greatly benefit local industries and generate employment opportunities."
