DataBird: Creating empires of possibilities for entrepreneurs
DataBird, the talk of the town is being led by Kashef Rahman, CEO of DataBird. Starting the professional career like any ordinary person, Kashef dreamt big and the colours of his dreams are now showing as reality. As CEO of DataBird, Kashef shared some core insights, current standing and plans of how the team at DataBird is formulizing in creating an internet ecosystem in Bangladesh while creating opportunities for local start-ups and entrepreneurs with the ideas but require a support to make their ideas and plans a reality.
After completing a journey of 11+ years in the corporate sector in multiple departments like Sales, After Sell Service, MIS, and Customer Care, he decided to chase his passion, which is travelling and founded what was then called Travel Booking BD with the vision to revolutionize the experience of a traveller through digitization of travel based product and service innovation. Within a span of 4+ years, the progress led to being part of a larger goal. Rebranding Travel Booking BD to ShareTrip (www.sharetrip.net) focusing on the visions and goals that Kashef Rahman envisioned. Ultimately becoming a part of DataBird and working towards building an eco-system of internet-based services in Bangladesh, stationed in the USA.
The introduction of DataBird (https://www.databird.co/) into Bangladesh came by investing in ShareTrip and Ridmik Labs (https://www.ridmik.com/). The plan to build an internet ecosystem in Bangladesh that increased the consumers' ease and comfort looked more promising than ever to them. The vision of Kashef Rahman, building a tech-based travel solution service aligned with that of DataBird's grand vision. Kashef Rahman as the Chief Executive Officer of DataBird mentions that it is extremely important to understand the market and the needs of consumers through continuous consumer behaviour analysis. DataBird is focused on developing multiple consumer brands based on these consumer insights and is now skewed towards building a product portfolio based on Communication, Advertisement and Fintech companies.
Start-ups and entrepreneurship are an area that will guide Bangladesh in realizing the dream of a Digital Bangladesh in far more unique ways than envisioned. But it is only possible with the support of experienced and capable hands who can be the guiding torch for these start-ups. DataBird intends to take that role and help more internet-based start-ups to come up and shine. "One of the key assets that we have realized is the use of the local talents, meaning our human resources in the tech arena are far more capable of developing world standard products and services" says Kashef Rahman. The biggest examples lie in front of us as ShareTrip and Ridmik Labs.
DataBird has already made a significant mark in capitalizing on the internet eco-system and plan to work on similar platforms building more companies in the upcoming days. Unlike many other investment groups, DataBird is here on a longer stay. As part of that commitment, and taking into inspiration from Alibaba, they are here to create a new culture in Bangladesh by taking on board the upcoming ventures not as investment portfolios rather by making the founders partners in DataBird as they have done with ShareTrip and Ridmik Labs, as mentioned by Kashef Rahman. In line with that, Kashef also mentioned that, since the core of building tech-based service portfolio which in time can turn to sustainable business platforms is the right application of the local talents, they are in a continuous process of grooming the local talents and making them qualified for being partners of DataBird. They have already implemented these plans into action through ShareTrip and Ridmik Labs and with the support from international experts in the same arena, the knowledge sharing has established an integral part amongst the current resources.
Currently, DataBird has invested $5 million in the Bangladesh market and plans to continue to contribute more in the coming days in building the culture, people and products, a principle that many others do not share. With the support and strategic backing of the key investor, Skycatcher, in the future as well, they are very hopeful that in the vision of building Digital Bangladesh by identifying the needs of the people and serving them accordingly, DataBird will play a very significant role in the country.
