Old Dhaka to see circular bus service
City bus service to get streamlined
Circular bus service will be launched in old Dhaka from this month (July), while an initiative has been taken to streamline the capital city’s bus services.
"The new service will follow a route, starting from Babubazar staff quarter road to Maghbazar via Ashulia model town and Meradia-Rampura Bridge," said Sayeed Khokon, mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, at a press conference held on Sunday.
"If needed, the route will be extended further to Sadarghat," said the mayor, mentioning that there are multiple bus services already in operation along the Sadarghat route.
No bus service will be allowed to operate along Mohammadpur-Motijheel route without ticketing system, according to the press conference.
Earlier, an initiative was taken to bring Dhaka's all running bus services under 6 companies.
Another meeting of the bus route rationalization committee will be held within 7 days to make the initiative successful.
