DSCC knocks down establishments on canal
The establishments were pulled down to retrieve the natural flow of the canal
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Wednesday demolished annexes of three multi-storied buildings on the Kadamtola canal in Dhaka.
The establishments were pulled down as a part of the Dhaka South's ongoing campaign to retrieve the natural flow of the clogged water bodies.
Besides, the drive led by DSCC executive magistrates AH Irfan Uddin Ahmed and Tanjila Kabir removed 12 bailey bridges constructed on the canal without permission. Two persons were also fined Tk15,000 in this regard.
In the meantime, another drive led by DSCC Estate Officer and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Moniruzzaman freed a portion of Dholaikhal truck stand from illegal occupation.
The executive magistrate said the land had been handed over to the DSCC waste management department to build a Secondary Transfer Station (STS).
Local councillors were present during the drives.
