Bear gives birth to 2 cubs at Gazipur Safari Park
The park authorities said the newborn cubs appear to be healthy
A bear gave birth to two beautiful cubs at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur on 5 January.
Although the two cubs were born earlier this month, the park authorities only broke the news to the media on Wednesday afternoon.
The park authorities said the newborn cubs appear to be healthy. With this, the number of bears in the park stands at 15.
Assistant Forest Conservator Tabibur Rahman, also the officer-in-charge of the safari park, said, "The female bear was placed under special surveillance after she became pregnant and on 5 January the bear gave birth to two cubs in a special enclosure. The park officials are still feeding the mother bear in the enclosure."
He also added that the safari park is playing a role in the conservation of this endangered animal. New possibilities are being seen as, for a third time at the park, new cubs are being born into the sleuth of bears in a confined environment.
