Purchased vaccines to arrive in time: FM

The Covid-19 vaccines, purchased from India's Serum Institute, will arrive in Bangladesh in time as per deal, said Foreign Minister AKM Abdul Momen.
The minister came up with the remark at a vaccine hand over programme at state guest house Padma in the capital today.
"Today is a historic day…our neighbouring country India gifted us 20 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine," said the minister.

"The Indian government has stood by Bangladesh in the war of liberation. Now it has given vaccines as a gift during the pandemic. Besides, the purchased vaccine will come just in time," said the foreign minister said.
"Many developed countries have not yet received the vaccine. We got the vaccine prior to them, so thanks to the Indian government," he added.
The consignment of 20 lakh doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, gifted by India, arrived at Dhaka Airport by air cargo around 11:20am.
Hours after the Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Dhaka, Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami handed over 20 lakh doses as a gift to Bangladesh from the people of India.
