Hallmark GM spends time alone with a woman in deputy jailor's office, 3 cops withdrawn
Violating the rules, Hallmark General Manager (GM) Tushar Ahmed spent 45 minutes alone with a woman inside deputy jailor's office recently in Kashimpur Central Jail.
The deputy jailer and two other officials of Kashimpur Jail were withdrawn on Friday for allegedly facilitating the meeting and two probe committees had also been formed over the incident, jail authorities told The Business Standard, adding that the moves were made after a video footage of Tushar – who is a close relative of Hallmark Managing Director Tanvir Mahmud – and a woman became viral.
The incident reportedly took place on 6 January. A private TV channel published a report using the footage on Friday, and it became the topic of heated discussions among people across the country almost immediately..
In the video clip, Tushar Ahmed was seen to wander casually in office area of the prison in afternoon on the day. Few moments later, a woman entered into the prison from the outside.
It was also seen in the video clip that the woman had entered the jail at 12:55pm and Deputy Jailor Saqlain himself welcomed her at his office.
However, the deputy jailor at one stage left his office and returned there along with Tushar Ahmed after around ten minutes.
Later, Saqlain left his office after that Tushar and the woman stayed at the office for about 45 minutes.
MM Tariqul Islam, deputy commissioner of Gazipur, said a probe body, with additional district magistrate Abul Qalam as head, has been formed over the incident.
"We have found the incident authentic initially. Further investigation is in progress," he said.
Meanwhile, Additional Inspector General (Prisons) Md Abrar Hossain told the reporters that they have formed a separate probe body.
The Business Standard tried to contact Jail Super Ratna Roy for comments on the matter, but she could be reached on phone till the filing this report.
