The shooting for Bangabandhu, a biographical film on Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, has begun in Mumbai.

WHO WAS SHEIKH MUJIBUR REHMAN?
Sheikh Mujibur Rehman is called the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh. He served as the first President of the country and later as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He was assassinated on 15 August 1975, but his legacy is celebrated till this day. In fact, Bangabandhu is being made part of his birth centenary celebration.
BANGABANDHU CAST
Since the film is in Bangla language, Shyam Benegal wanted to cast actors accordingly. Bangladeshi film and television actor Arifin Shuvoo will play the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, while Nusrat Imrose Tisha will portray the role of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa. The role of Sheikh Hasina will be essayed by Nusraat Faria and Tauquir Ahmed will appear in the role of Sohrawardy, among others.
ABOUT BANGABANDHU
Bangabandhu was announced by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar during the inauguration of the 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI). He gave this as an example of close cooperation in the field of art and culture between India and Bangladesh. Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi have written the screenplay of the film, while the music is given by Shantanu Moitra.
The second phase shooting will be held in Bangladesh, which will focus on Mukti Bahini's (Bangladeshi military) struggle for independence.
