Lampard set to be sacked by Chelsea
Confirmation could come as soon as today after Chelsea players were told not to report to the training ground until this afternoon.
Frank Lampard is set be sacked by Chelsea less than 24 hours after the club's FA Cup victory over Luton Town, reports The Telegraph.
Confirmation could come as soon as today after Chelsea players were told not to report to the training ground until this afternoon.
Fabrizio Romano also tweeted mentioning the possibility of the sack just after The Telegraph reported it.
Chelsea's 2-0 defeat to Leicester on Tuesday evening, however, means they have won just two of their last eight Premier League games under Lampard, who replaced Maurizio Sarri as manager at the start of the 2019-20 season.
It is understood that the club's hierarchy was concerned by recent form and the struggles of summer signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.
Lampard will leave with the lowest points per game of any Chelsea manager under Roman Abramovich.
Chelsea splashed more than £200 million in transfer fees on Havertz, Werner, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva in the summer as they looked to reshape their squad.
A lower points total than this stage last season was not acceptable after such a huge outlay.
