2 die in wall collapse in Chattogram
The incident has also left two people injured
Two people died in Chattogram's Agrabad after a boundary wall collapsed on them as they returned from prayers at around 2pm on Friday.
The deceased are Mohammad Shahid Ullah and Al Amin. Shahid, who hails from Basurhat, Noakhali, was a driver at the Bangladesh Power Development Board office in Agrabad. Al Amin was from the Radio Station area of Agrabad.
The incident also left two people injured. One of them is Rakib Uddin, whose detailed identity has not yet been determined. The other injured person has not yet been identified.
Newton Das, deputy assistant director of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense, Agrabad, said, "Shahid and Al Amin were returning after Friday prayers at around 2pm when an old boundary wall on the north bank of Agrabad's Debar Par collapsed on them. They later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Further, two others were injured in the incident."
Nayek Hamidur Rahman of the Chattogram Medical College and Hospital Police Outpost said the injured ones are being treated in the orthopaedics ward of Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
After the accident, four vehicles of Agrabad Fire Station went to the spot and started the rescue operation.
Newton Das said the wall was in a disputed area between the Chattogram Port Authority and Bangladesh Railway.
