El Clasico watch party cancelled
As political unrest hits Spain, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid's "El Clasico" match, scheduled for October 26 has been postponed due to safety issues surrounding the ongoing violent protests in Catalonia.
Nine Catalan separatist leaders were imprisoned on Monday, resulting in wild clashes between hundreds of thousands of protesters, right-wing groups and state police throughout the week.
In the most recent protest – on Thursday night – 80 people were injured and 33 arrested, according to Spanish authorities.
The upcoming match at Camp Nou between FC Barcelona and Madrid CF has been postponed on safety grounds, as a consequence.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation's on October 18 confirmed the fixture's deferral in a statement that read: "The two clubs must agree on a new date by October 21 or a committee would do so for them."
The first-ever live El Clasico watch party, to be held at the International Convention City Bashundahra, has been cancelled.
Being confirmed by LaLiga authorities, the party organiser Benchmark PR announced the news while stating that LaLiga is committed to its Bangladeshi fans and will organise such events as soon as circumstances and schedule permit it.
