Friendship to Build Hospital in Cox’s Bazar
Development organisation, Friendship, has taken initiative to construct a hospital at Balukhali of Ukhia upazila in Cox's Bazar.
France is giving assistance to build the 30-bed hospital for several lakh people of the region, said a press release.
French Ambassador Jean-Marin Schuh was present at the hospital construction inauguration program held Thursday.
He said, "As a result of sheltering displaced Rohingya, Bangladesh is facing many challenges. Therefore, France has stood beside Bangladesh and come forward with various humanitarian assistance."
Chief Operating Officer of Friendship Col (Retd.) Iftekhar Uddin Mahmud said Friendship has always been giving importance on health service to the marginal people. Locals have already started facing various health risks because of Rohingya. Taking it into consideration, the hospital is being built.
Chief Finance Officer of Friendship Muhammed Shameem Reza said they plan to give service to over 150 patients each day at the hospital. "There will be modern facilities like emergency, outdoor service, dispensary, pathology, laboratory, operation theatre and women and children health care services," he added.
Marc Elvinger, Co-Chair of Friendship International, France Embassy officials and locals were present at the inauguration.
