People aged 40, or above can take Covid-19 vaccine
The Bangladesh government has decided to vaccinate people aged 40 or above, instead of 55 or above as per prevoius instruction.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came up with the directive during a cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, said Khandker Anwarul Islam, the cabinet secretary.
The cabinet secretary also disclosed that the fresh directive will be effective from today.
At the same time, the premier directed that if anyone appears before a vaccination centre with National Identity Card (NID), s/he should be vaccinated upon completion of registration on the spot.
But in this case, the people will have to show a reasonable cause that obstructed them from being registered online.
Bangladesh started mass-vaccination drive on Sunday, with an aim to vaccinate some 35 lakh people in the first phase.
