Khaleda Zia getting proper treatment, says medical board
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia is getting proper treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, claimed Zilon Mia Sarker, the head of the medical board formed for her treatment.
"As a former prime minister and senior citizen, Khaleda is being treated with due respect. We do not see any symptom that can put her life in threat," said Zilon Mia, also the dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the university in the city's Shahbagh area.
Zilon Mia today was briefing media at the medical university's Milton Hall following allegations by Khaleda's family members and party men that she was not getting proper medical care.

Their allegation that the convict BNP chief has not been checked up by physicians for 15 days is also untrue, claimed the doctor, adding her health has improved and is now stable.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to the hospital on April 1 with diabetics, high blood pressure, dental and arthritis problems. Afterwards, a medical board was formed to check her health up on a regular basis.
"The madam is satisfied with the treatment," said the doctor, adding another medical board has been formed with rheumatologists with permission from the administration. "We do not think we have failed to treat her."
Addressing the press briefing, the university Director Brig Gen Dr AK Mahbubul Hoque said Khaleda Zia has been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for 28 years.
"We want to give her new modalities of treatment so that she can walk. But we need her permission," he said. "Doctors are giving her counselling on it. A vaccine will be given to her if she agrees."
