Bida expands one-stop services to ease business
The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) on Thursday inked memorandums of understanding with four more organisations to expand its one-stop services in order to improve the ease of doing business for entrepreneurs and investors.
The organisations are the Directorate of Registration, the Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL), the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence, and the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority.
Entrepreneurs will get 16 kinds of services from these organisations by submitting applications online.
As per the agreements, the services of the Directorate of Registration will include extending support in the process of signing deeds of land purchase and registration of lease. Similarly, the BTCL will help install telephone systems based on Voice over Internet Protocol, high-speed internet and virtual private networks.
The Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence will provide fire-safety licences and renew them while the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority will set up water and sewage lines, among other services.
There is no alternative to improved services favouring investments to build a better Bangladesh, said Bida's Executive Chairman Sirazul Islam while addressing the MOU signing programme as the chief guest.
Bida is currently providing 41 kinds of services through 11 organisations.
"We are working tirelessly to improve the environment for investment," Sirazul said, adding that Bida would be able to provide as many as 154 investment services through 35 organisations by this year.
"These services will play a significant role in improving our rank on the ease of doing business index".
The online one-stop-service facility was launched in 2018 to ensure ease of doing business in the country.
