'Shed a tear or two as I walked off': Joshua Da Silva on missing maiden hundred
The right-handed batsman is delighted with what the West Indies have achieved but disappointed to miss out on a maiden Test hundred.
West Indies wicketkeeper batsman Joshua Da Silva, with a superb 92, propelled the West Indies to a huge total of 409. He was involved in significant partnerships with Nkrumah Bonner and Alzarri Joseph. The right-handed batsman is delighted with what the West Indies have achieved but disappointed to miss out on a maiden Test hundred.
"Very happy with the result. Got a half century, but it wasn't good enough. I was out for 92. I was gutted. Probably shed a tear or two as I walked off. Test cricket is all about batting time. It gets easier as you bat long. You have to grind it out but then the runs begin to come," Da Silva said.
"The pitches are a lot lower, and the fingers get a lot more damaged than at home or elsewhere. It has not spun as much as I expected, but let's hope it spins more. None of the guys here are second-string players, because we all believe we are good enough. I am sure people back home are just as gutted as I was, but I am sure they are also pleased with my performance," he added.
