Police have arrested newly elected ward councillor Sarwar Kamal Rajib over the death of a man in a clash between two councillor candidates of Patiya municipality in Chattogram.
After being shown arrested, he is in the process of being sent to jail on Monday afternoon, reports Prothom Alo.
Patiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Karim Majumder said that previous councillor Abdul Mannan filed the case on Sunday night.
Mentioning seven names, more than 20 people have been made accused in the case, he added.
Earlier, the clash took place in Dakhshin Gobindo Khil polling station of No.8 ward of the municipality around 12pm where Abdul Mabud, 45, brother of councillor candidate Abdul Mannan shot dead.
