GPE to give $14.8m to fund Bangladesh’s education sector
Remote learning on 35 subjects is expected to be provided to 25 lakh students across the country
Global Partnership for Education (GPE) is set to give Bangladesh $14.8 million, through the World Bank, to enhance the institutional competence and remote learning capacity of educational institutions in the country.
The organisation is making this fund to implement the Bangladesh Covid-19 School Sector Response project from its Covid-19 Accelerated Funding Window.
To this end, an agreement was signed between Bangladesh and the World Bank on Monday, said a media statement.

Fatima Yasmin, secretary to the Economic Relations Division of Bangladesh, and Mercy Miyang Tembon, country director of the World Bank, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Education Ministry will jointly implement the project, the media statement read.
Under this project, remote learning on 35 subjects would be provided to 25 lakh students across the country. Further, the project would enhance the institutional capacity of educational institutions to avert a possible further crisis in primary and secondary level education in the country.
