Trade licence service going online in March: Bida exec chairman
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop held at Chattogram’s World Trade Center
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) executive chairman Sirazul Islam said the trade licence service will go online in March.
Speaking as the chief guest at a workshop titled "Ease of Doing Business" held at Chattogram's World Trade Center, he said, "Currently, the fee to get a trade licence in the city corporation area is Tk3500. But if you do not add another Tk3000 with this fee, you won't get a trade licence.
To eliminate these inconsistencies regarding the acquisition of trade licence, Bida is working ceaselessly. As a continuation of this work, we will provide trade licence service on Bida's website in March."
The workshop discussed business facilitation indicators based on 10 criteria: Business start-up approval, building permits, electricity connection, property registration, loans, protection of small investors, tax payments, implementation of foreign trade agreements, and assisting in the development of bankrupted businesses.
Sirazul Islam said, "At today's workshop, we discussed some of the indicators of conducting business more easily but so much more can be done to improve the situation – which we will focus on next year."
He said efforts are underway to improve Bangladesh's ranking in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business index from the 168th position Bangladesh currently holds.
President of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mahbubul Alam, officials of Chattogram Port, Chattogram Customs, Chattogram Development Authority, Chattogram Wasa and other representatives of business organisations took part in the discussion during the workshop.
