30 injured in clash between JU students and locals
At least 30 people have been injured in a clash that broke out between the students of Jahangirnagar University and residents of the adjacent localities on Friday evening.
The incidence took place in Gerua area of Savar over playing cricket, reports Somoy TV.
Students alleged that a group of people incited the locals using loudspeaker of a mosque and later carried out attack, leaving 30 students injured. Three motorcycles were also vandalized there.
"It's all about our honour. Attack the students with whatever you have," they said using the loudspeaker.
Locals were seen to take position with locally made weapons at Gerua Bazar. Additional police personnel were deployed there to avoid further clash.
